Google is working on a smart tracker / locator tag similar to the Apple Airtag, codenamed Grogu. Google’s upcoming smart tracker or locator tag will use the company’s Fast Pair feature.

The smart locator will help users locate a missing item using the inbuilt speaker. The device is said to be developed by Google’s Nest team.
Developer Kuba Wojciechowski claims that Google is developing a smart wireless smart tracker that will work on the same distributed tracking network as Apple’s AirTag and Samsung’s SmartTag. However, the tech giant may call the distributed tracking network the ‘Finder Network’. The upcoming device has been spotted with the codename ‘Grogu’.
The new smart tracker is expected to work with both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technologies.
For sound alerts, the device may be integrated with a small internal speaker and will be launched in different colors.
The new smart tracker is expected to be launched at Google I/O 2023 – the tech giant’s annual developer conference, the report said.
Google is also working on a new Chromecast alongside the Google TV model. According to a recent preview update of the Google Home app, Google is seen preparing to launch a new Chromecast with a Google TV dongle, codenamed “YTC”. It is likely to be a “Chromecast with Google TV” device. It is referred to along with earlier versions of “YTV” (Chromecast with Google TV) and “YTB” (Chromecast HD). Chromecast with Google TV (HD) was launched in India in September last year.
